These dues are paid at the time you join the troop. They help pay for BSA registration or transfer, the Troop 2012 custom neckerchief, handbook, badges like patrol patch, numerals, rank patches, new scout patches, and epaulets. Joining Dues are tiered based on need. Scouts transferring troops already have the handbook, so that cost is not included in the fee. New scouts must be registered with Council, which is a different rate than those transferring. Please see below for details.
Once these dues are paid, new scouts may receive their joining kit. Please note, Joining Dues cover the remainder of the year in which a scout joins. All scouts pay annual dues (currently $122) every October, prior to November Recharter. Annual dues cover the upcoming calendar year.
- New Boy Scout ($122) – Scouts who are joining BSA for the first time. They receive the full joining kit, including Handbook. These are the dues paid annually by all Troop Members. Discounts are available for families with active parent.
Joining Dues may be paid online (processing fees is apply). Or, you may bring a check to the Troop Meeting (payable to “Troop 2012”) and place it in the “Purple Box” money envelope.
