[SCOUT SUNDAY 2018 SIGN-UP]

  1. Scouts use the Sign-up Genius link to select ONE role.  Due to the large number of scouts we have at AUMC, please sign-up for only one Service and one slot.  If there are still openings as we get closer, we’ll allow scouts to select more than one role/Service.
  2. Scout roles are described below.
  3. Flag Ceremonies are open to ALL scouts, even if you have another job.  We hope every scout will participate in presentation and retirement of the colors.
  4. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled Service, in uniform, and check-in in the Narthex.
  5. The week before the Service, participants will receive an e-mail update confirming the duty roster for the event and providing additional information like Scripture readings, etc.

OFFERING:  Follows the Lord’s Prayer.  Prior to Service, you will be shown which row to lead.  Scouts on the ‘exterior’ sides will start the offering plate. Start at the front of the Church. Please take the plate when it’s handed to you, then hand it to the head of the next row.  When finished, bring the plates to myself and the Ushers in the back of the Church and return to your seats.

COMMUNION:  Five scouts will participate in Communion.  Two pairs will present the bread and juice as follows:   One scout holds the bread and tears off small pieces for the recipients.  As you hand it to them, say, “The Body of Christ given for you.”  For scouts holding the juice, allow members to dip their own bread in the juice and say, “The Blood of Christ given for you.”  Once the members have gone through the line, you may be directed by Pastor Chris to take the bread and juice to someone who cannot make their way to the front, or to offer Communion to other helpers.  Then, put the bread and juice back on the alter, and return to your seats.

The fifth Communion helper will stand in the center with a plate of pre-torn pieces of gluten-free bread and a cup of juice.  Member will come and take their own bread and dip it in the juice.  When they take the bread, say, “The Body of Christ given for you.”  And when they dip it in the juice, say “The Blood of Christ given for you.”  When all members have gone through the line, put the bread/juice back on the alter and return to your seat.
